I constructed a seemingly compromise of an antenna in this one what with its compact dimension. It is essentially a dipole with both ends coiled. The performance is an altogether different story. I designed this antenna for easy assembly and installation and having done that started to reel in many contacts during our trip to Polillo Island for DZ1P. It was amazing to be making contacts with stations from Europe, North America plus Asia and Oceania with 100 watts and easily managing a pileup! This even on bands that this 40M version was not designed for. To really prove the efficacy of this bumblebee I will construct a pair for use on our next activity and we will use nothing else except those two new ones. My first Pancake Antenna was given to Andy, 4F1GNW to be installed at his condo unit.

Hi Bill, Exactly right. It is good how instead of purchasing our gear we can just make them instead. With lots of patients needed sometimes but very satisfying to enjoy the fruits of your own efforts. This antenna works, that is for sure.
