I guess I have developed a fascination with logging programs in the last few years. I started many years ago with a DOS machine using CT. It was several years later before I tried again and since then I have used WinEQF, TRLog, Writelog and recently settled on VQLog for my main logging program and N1MMLogger for contesting. I sure wish someone would develop a really good contest/general/awards tracking program. I currently import my contest logs into VQLog for tracking awards and QSL status.

There are several other programs available that all fill a niche. DXLabLauncher has many parts that do packet, digital modes, rig control, propagation forecasting and DXCC status. DigiPan, MMTTY and several other digital mode software usually include some kind of logging itself.

What works best for you?

Hi Dan,
I use Ham Radio Deluse to control my transceiver and it has a very nice logging progrm built into it. I also use PSK31 Deluxe and the logbook does a great job with it also.

Hi Ron, good to see your smiling face on here. I just started playing with HRD but it lacks any decent contest logging capabilities. It does seem to work well at what it does though and I am impressed with it the little bit I have used it. I still use VQLog as my daily logging, award and QSL tracking program and I use N1MM for contesting. I have to manually import my contest logs into VQLog, but it really isn't a big deal. I have also played a little bit with DX Lab Suite, which does a multitude of things as well.

G'day Troop,
I have been using an old "logger" program these past years and finally upgraded from the 16 to the "logger 32" program. I carried my Logger program over to Ireland when i moved there and drug it back to CONUS when I returned.
Here is a fine program that costs one nothing but the time to download and set it up and it works gangbusters. The program is a winner and can be customed to your liking and covers a multitude of sins, when it comes to equipment control, contests and such. Truly a treat as we used to say.

N3FJP has some interesting logging software and the price is right. He has several contest specific logging programs as well as a general logger and some weather related software available on his site.

Ham Radio Deluxe is another interesting program for computer control of your rig and it has a logging function as well as many other extras.
