My Ham Radio Interests
Anything to do with radio! APRS, HF, VHF/UHF, Fox Hunting, OSCAR, Bicycle Mobile, Antenna building, Burning solder, Digital, Packet, I even do PSK31 on my phone! Whatever I can find to learn something new...
What makes it even better is that my wife is a HAM too!

On another note:
One of my favorite quotes...

God has given to men all that is necessary for them to accomplish their destinies. He has provided a social form as well as a human form. And these social organs of persons are so constituted that they will develop themselves harmoniously in the clean air of liberty. Away, then, with quacks and organizers! Away with their rings, chains, hooks, and pincers! Away with their artificial systems! Away with the whims of governmental administrators, their socialized projects, their centralization, their tariffs, their government schools, their state religions, their free credit, their bank monopolies, their regulations, their restrictions, their equalization by taxation, and their pious moralizations! And now that the legislators and do-gooders have so futilely inflicted so many systems upon society, may they finally end where they should have begun: May they reject all systems, and try liberty; for liberty is an acknowledgment of faith in God and His works. -The Law by Frédéric Bastiat

Mobile is:
Kenwood D710 w/APRS and packet, Yaesu FT-857, ATAS 120

Also have various HTs laying around and an Icom 7000 in the garage I have yet to play with.

Other Interests
Projects I'd like to tackle:
Full capability bicycle mobile. Can't scratch the cool paint, and must be able to convert to HF ManPack easily. Here's a link to the bike I have. The Electra Delivery 3i in grey.

Update: see pics for BiCycle Mobile!

Solar, battery, and generator station power. I have all the equipment but still waiting for the motivation to come in. Must be on back order... Update: Have completed solar! 160ah battery, 60 watt solar.

A travel camper designed for 72 hour communication and survival in an emergency. I'm looking at the Scamp 5th Wheel. "A Go Kit on Wheels". (Maybe use that IC-7000 in the garage?)

The perfect ARES portable station in a box. I have seen many designs but all are missing something. Either needed equipment or something in the design it self. Maybe it's just me but aesthetics are important too. Not as important as the other stuff but I don't want to be distracted with the thoughts of how I could have done something better when I'm trying to concentrate on the task at hand.

Clubs
Boulder ARES, Colorado SKYWARN

Well.... I'm frustrated with our local ham community. It seems that there has been another squabble that has caused a friend of mine to decide to get out of ham radio. His words were "I just don't want to be a part of that type". It stems from some on air discussions where both parties are somewhat headstrong. This has happened before in our community but not with these same operators. I don't understand why some people think that they own the airwaves or have the right to try and get someone kicked off a repeater. Making a comment of "what if there was an emergency" is an indication that the operator has forgotten the lessons learned in his or her tech class. Due to that comment, a favorite among the locals here will no longer visit a certain repeater. It's an open repeater and the club plainly states that all of it's repeaters are for "rag chewing". Still, the comment was made and that person left.

Now another incident has happened where two operators started talking politics (I think it was politics), anyway, one essentially scolded the other and the other decided to spread the word among others of the incident. He should have just taken the high road and changed the subject. Agree to disagree. Bummer....

Don't be frustrated! Don't Give UP!
This is not UNIQUE only on our Hobby! This Problems are on other HBobbies too!
This is Normal because we're not ROBOT's we're humans people are differente, with different ideas, point of views etc. etc.
The important is! if you realy like the HOBBY it doesn't matter if some others think on different way. The Important is YOU!
BE YOURSELF! Use and disfrute radio and don't care about the others !
Amateur radio is a GREAT HOBBY!
