I have recently returned to amateur radio after a long break.
I purchased a yaesu ft817nd about six months ago and run this through an outbacker vertical antenna.
I am finding that this is less than ideal and i am at present researching other antennas, idealy one that can also be used portable.
I am keen on the cw mode and so i am in the process of relearning this to increase my speed.
Satellites also interest me so an antenna project is on the go at the moment. This is a fairly basic 2m/70cm beam made of 10mm aluminium angle and wood. Also not ideal, as it will be a permenant structure in the garden and i will be unable to work /p.
Although there is little need to go to my local high spot to work sats so i dont think this will be a problem.
