My Ham Radio Interests
IN 1976 I WAS A HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR STUDENT AT BARRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT THEY HAD A HAM CLUB AND OFFERED THE DEVRY ELECTRONICS CLASS. I ENDED UP WITH MY ADVANCED BEFORE I HAD MY DRIVERS LICENSE. I WAS VERY ACTIVE ON THE HF BANDS BACK THEN WITH MY DRAKE TR3 USING AN HY GAIN 18AVT VERTICAL AND A TH3JR YAGI. I WENT OFF TO THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE AN ACTIVE CLUB SO NO HF FOR THE TIME BEING UNTIL AFTER GRADUATION FROM KU. I HAVE BEEN ACTIVE ON 2 METER & UHF FM SINCE 1982. I RECENTLY BOUGHT A ICOM IC-7000 AND DENTRON 160-10L LINEAR AMP. MY CURRENT ANTENNAS ARE 1)ANTRON A99 + GP4 VERTICAL (10-12 METERS ONLY) 2)MOSLEY TA-33M TRI-BAND YAGI 3)FAN DIPOLES 75/40 METERS. LOOK FOR ME ON THE TEN METER BAND (29.6 FM)(29.0-29.1 AM) & 20 METER USB (14.178 & 14.183) & 75 METERS (3.913 & 3.850)

The current solar cycle, which began in 1996, was expected to reach a minimum and transition to a new solar cycle in January 2007, post 11 years. It did not, although we have ...
