My Ham Radio Interests
I'm a Native New Yorker. At the age of five I found in the attic a Zenith Transoceanic which belonged to my Grandpa John who headed up the Civil Defense in Newport Rhode Island during WW II (and who was I might add a real gadget man.). I was immediatly enthralled by the voices emanating from that black box. Countless nights found me sitting staring out the window at the winter sky listening to far away stations. Soon I was fabricating antennas to improve the signal and dreaming of the day I might talk back. I eventually aqquired an FCC R-Telephone License as a teenager while working at a small school (read reformatory) operated FM station in the Massachusetts hills. I learned to operate ship to shore radiotelephones while commercial fishing and eventually went on to study for and get my first Amateur ticket. Although I let my first license lapse I came back to the Hobby in 2004 and my enthusiasm for it is greater than ever.

You can find me at night on 80 meters, I am active on HF, 2meters, 70cm, and occasionally on echolink as well. I operate a 130 ft longwire which is stretched across First Avenue 50 feet above East Harlem NYC. If you don't believe it click on my homepage and see for yourself. Ham's are nothing if not ingenius.

But truth be told , more than anything else I still love the opportunity to meet new friends in far away places who share my love of the Hobby and I encourage any and everyone to pursue Amateur Radio as a way to meet people, learn alot and most of all to have FUN!

I have a three year old son Zephan who is already learning about the hobby, and who will (I hope) follow in my footsteps one day soon.
