My Ham Radio Interests
My interests are plain and simple; "AMATEUR RADIO"! I have been licensed for around 18 years now. I have had various Radios and Antennas in my time and like every Ham out there, still never satisfied!

I enjoy 2 meter SSB and FM but HF/SSB is my most enjoyable!

To make my Amateur Radio Hobby even more enjoyable; I decided to include one more antenna to my shack before I settle down and really enjoy the Hobby.

I bought a Butternut HF5B 5 band 2 element Beam. It was a bit of a chore in building it due to all the plumbing involved and even more dificult in tuning the beast. Even in the manual it says; take your time and be careful when tuning this beam, it is very difficult and important in doing so, it took about 4 days to modify and construct this antenna; it took 5 days to tune it!

Equipment
MY SHACK:

Well guys, I have been dealt the Big Boot! On Sept 09/09 my wife has put her foot down and told me that my purchasing days of Ham Radio Equipment for My Shack has come to an end! Being a nice and loving husband that I am, I promised her that I would not purchase anymore equipment from this day on. Even though she was with me at the Candy Store, I did manage to bring home my new Icom IC-7600 HF Rig.

It sure is a beauty! Unfortunately this past March I had a Knee Replacement and was in the hospital for 10 days.

My wife did agree to allow me to make this one last purchase of my new Icom IC-7600; she did say that if I show up with another item of Ham equipment in the future, I will have to have surgery on my other leg and more than likely will have a hospital stay a lot longer than the previous 10 days I already had! I really did not know what she meant as I told her that there was nothing wrong with my other leg.

There was a slight pause and then she Spoke! --- NOT YET!---

No matter what she says, she is a great Gal. She never asks for or wants anything and helps me carry in all my new toys all of the time and she is a hard worker around home!

As long as I keep throwing her a few bucks so that she can visit the Casino she is quite happy and so am I! The only problem that I noticed that when we came home with my new Icom IC-7600 was that she was holding a Baseball Bat the whole time and to this date for some strange reason; she still carries it with her!

Now all I have to do is figure out a way where I can bring home a Icom IC-7700 to keep my Icom IC-7600 company!

Other Interests
Wow! After reading what I have just listed of all my equipment, I don't think I could afford any other Hobbies or Interests!

It is amazing what we have, is it not? You really do not notice how much cost is involved until we sit down and record everything for one reason or another.

Oh; by the way, all my equipment was all bought brand new when I updated my shack last year and this year. The only thing that is older than a year and a bit are my towers.

Now back to my other Interests! I have enjoyed carpentry as well as electrical work all through my years but my health problem really puts a damper on that now.

I enjoy Stock Car Racing locally here during the summer season including the newly NASCAR which started up this past summer and enjoy going to watch Hockey games with my daughter; very much.

The two of us do attend quite a few NHL and AHL games; of course to watch The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Marlies during the season. We also have Labrador Retrievers which are our other Kids and I guess you could say are our best friends; they take up a bit of time but are well worth the effort!

I do have some other hobbies, but just too many to list.

Well that's it for now! Thanks for dropping in. I hope I haven't bored you too much but I guess this is what this site is all about!

Maybe we might hook up on the Airwaves sometime!

The whole idea of this site is so that your friends, family and fellow Hams will have a place to go; to admire your Shack.

I must say that STUART W8STU who has designed and put up this site: “MY HAM SHACK.com “has done an amazing job, in allowing us Hams the freedom to post our information and pictures of our Shacks on this site for free and with no obligations!

Thank you very much and I commend you for a job well done.

Unfortunately a few weeks ago, we had an unpredictable happening here in my Household and my Shack!

My best Pal; (Cruz) my Yellow Lab in the Photos included on My Hamshack Site took ill one morning. It was a very hot week here in Ontario and he was having a hard time breathing. He couldn't lie down as it would block his airway! We had ta ...
