My Ham Radio Interests
Strictly QRP cw on 20 and 30 meters. Two to five watts output using modest equipment. Usually with a straight key, occasionally the Vibrokeyer, if glass-arm sets in.

Still a place for low-tech amateur radio in a high-tech amateur radio world.

My Equipment
- SG-2020 low power transceiver
- OHR QRP transceivers and OHR wattmeter
- Daiwa SWR/POWER meter
- MFJ tuner
- Old Timewave filter
- Straight keys, bugs, and a Vibrokeyer
- Buddistick antenna

Have a little FT-817 QRP station at a portable location.

All my radio gear was purchased second or third-hand. You can still find decent used equipment at an affordable price. Sometimes needs repairs a little sooner, though.

Other Interests
Since I no longer have a darkroom, I use a small compact digital camera that's convenient to slip into my pocket when I tramp around. Takes a half-way decent photo. Will put some here, eventually. Do a lot of reading, mostly history, and currently WW1 and WW2 Naval engagements. Special interest in WW2 convoy activity. Also interest in early "sparks" marine ops memoirs. And, what is sometimes referred to as Old Time Radio".

For the past several days or so I have experienced much improved results on 20 and 30 meters. Not DX by any means but my four watts QRP cw from central New York State has gotten me acceptable reports from as far west as Iowa and into the southern states.

And, the propagation was not ideal.

Maybe the decision to keep the Buddi ...
