Geostationary ham band satellite.

My latest interest is a ham band GEO satellite for IARU Region 2, sitting over the Americas.
Hopefully we can have a satellite emulating the European QO-100 soon.

Building the ground station, is what every ham can do for his own shack.
COTS parts are readily available and inexpensive.

ADALM Pluto learning module, with a WiFi booster into a old Direct TV dish will work.
So will Minitiouner and TBS5520SE.

Free software, like CrazyScan, FreeDV, Minitioune, etc will be tested.

I'm just getting interested in the sats a bit more. Is there actually a geostationary ham sat up now?

Thanks,
Dave

Only over Europe.
There are groups here in the U.S. Working towards GEO sats.

That would be awesome! I have been listening a little to the FM sats as they fly over, a geosat would be great.

I need to learn the best freqs to listen for the FM sats with 2m downlinks, could you share that info?

KC9SGV HF Remote station.

My latest interest is my new HF Remote station using the www.remotehams.com RCForb software.

This station is part of the Great Lakes Marine Mobile Net.

Operate the station from this URL:
http://beta.remotehams.com/orb.html?id=2520

Or download the FREE RCForb client software from www.remotehams.com

KC9SGV-5 PSKMail Server

I just started a PSKMail Server on HF from my Ham shack.
You can download the free PSKMail email client software for Windows or Linux and then send email to and from your REGULAR email account via PSKMail on HF.

The sound card software is completely open source and is in a constant state of development by Hams around the Globe, but works fine as of now.

The server frequencies are here:

For more information on PSKMail and to download the software see:

KC9SGV IRLP node.

This IRLP node will become part of the Great Lakes Marine Mobile Net.
For some months now, I have been working on the IRLP station here. This involved purchasing a dedicated Linux IRLP computer from Ebay, buying a old commercial VHF radio at a Ham Fest, getting a used IRLP card, downloading the software and making it all work.
Well, it is up and running now for the benefit and use of local Hams in my area !
