My Ham Radio Interests
I am a Ham Radio operator in Eugene, OR. My interest in radio started as licensed CB user(KBPN-1418) and I went by 'Little John' (Paul means little and my middle name means John). I was discouraged by the language and lack of courtesy though and wished for an alternative. Ham radio was the ticket, although it was several years till I got around to studying for a license. I was first licensed as KB7VIQ on June 6, 1993. On March 14th 2007 my wife became KD7PJW and I (became K7VIQ) as we both took and passed the General exam together. I took the Extra March 2019 and we finally got a starter icom HF radio and multiband isotron antenna.
I have been practicing Morse code so I picked up a Bunnell AT&T Western Electric key and a cheap 3d printed double paddle to practice with. I need extensive practice receiving code before I can do much on the air.

Getting back on the bands

My wife and I got an HF radio and multi isotron antenna and a couple VHF/UHF/DMR radios and got the station up between March 30 and September 2019. Yea it took us a while aperticulay to get the isotron antenna up on a TV mast and guy wired. Have already talked to old and new Friends on the nest I take in. I enjoy taking in ECARN, a small emergency radio net.
