My Ham Radio Interests
I have been a professional radio broadcaster for going on 35 years now. It was only three years ago that I got interested in HAM radio. A friend of mine, that I worked with at the time, is a HAM and I started asking curious questions, studied, took my test, and got my license.
Equipment
Yaesu FT 2800 2 meter base rig with a 3/6db dual band base antenna in my ham shack, and a Yaesu FT 7800 dual band mobile rig with a Larsen mobile dual band antenna in my truck. I also have an Icom ICT-7H HT rig.
Other Interests
I mentioned that I am a professional broadcaster. I currently work at KSBJ in Houston, Texas, the nation's largest Christian radio station. I am on air currently doing traffic reports for the Afternoon Show, and I also work in engineering as a remote operations technician. KSBJ does have an HD signal at 89.3 FM.
KSBJ has been very helpful with amateur radio operators. We have a dual band antenna on our 164 foot microwave tower at our studios, and we have a digipeater installed in our engineering room all for the TEAC club.
We also have a communications antenna used by the Plum Grove Fire Department on our main tower at our transmitter sight in Plum Grove, Texas.
Clubs
TEAC- Texas Emergency Amateur Communicators in Kingwood, Texas
I am also a member of ARRL
