My Ham Radio Interests
Hi there fellow Ham de DV1KD (formerly DV1LFK) my handle is Kim. I'm a holder of Class B (General Class) Amateur Radio Station License. Art Director by profession and a Master Mason.
I'm a member of DX1ER (Amateur Communicators for Emergency Response or ACER) and associate member of DX2AAA (Association of Active Amateurs, Inc.).
Other activities are Electronics, Mountain Biking, Ice Hockey, Firefighting, Practical Shooting and Freemasonry.
On weekends, I spend my time talking with other Ham operators locally. I also do QSO with other Hams around the world via HF Radio and Echolink.
I have been in the hobby for almost 20 years. My interest with amateur radio started during my grade school days when my father listens to his Short Wave Receiver every morning before bringing me to my school. My interest grew more after experiencing real QSO with other radio operators on 10 meter band.
July of 1991 was the date that I passed my first Ham license (Novice Class-Amateur Class D) and on that same year I acquired my first 2 meter amateur radios the Icom IC-02AT and IC-28H. Eventually I bought more radios and gradually build my own hamshack.
I went off the air for quite sometime. But few years after, I decided to continue my favorite hobby and went back on the air waves again. Last 2006 I took and passed my Technician Class (Amateur Class C) license. Then after a week I passed my General Class (Amateur Class B) examination and registered my DV1 prefix callsign.
Most of the time I operate my station on several amateur bands. 40 meter, 20 meter, 15 meter, 10 meter, 2 meter and 70 cm bands. You can catch me on 7.045 MHz, 7.095 MHz, 144.620 MHz DX1ER (ACER), 144.660 MHz (DX1ARM Simplex) and 434.400 MHz + 5.00 pl 88.5 repeater.
You can also add my echolink node to your favorites DV1KD-R node # 317788 or connect to TRIARC or CALNEV Conference Server. Hope to work with your station soon.
