Other Callsigns
My first callsign was KA9EPO. I got my present callsign when I upgraded to Extra in March of 1997.

My Ham Radio Interests
I enjoy doing the digital modes mostly. 85% of my contacts are digital. Most of the SSB I do is from the mobile unit while commuting to and from work. I also do some casual contesting with what time I have available. I usually hang out on 14.260 or thereabouts. In the mornings I sometimes check into the Korn Kobber's Net on 7.274.10 or the WB2JKJ 22 Crew Net on 7.238.03. It just depends on propagation at the time.
I also enjoy helping new hams get started. I have Elmered 10 people during my 32 years as an operator. My best success story is that of Jake Stockle, KC9RIQ. Within one year of obtaining his license, he upgraded to General and already has his DX-CC and is one state away from getting his WAS award. He also does mostly digital modes. He loves ham radio to death! He has shared many common interests with the hams he meets on the air.
I use MixW for my digital communications and I have helped several fellow hams with that program. Locally, I have become known as Dr. MixW. My good friend, Ray, K9XE calls me "Doc" because I have made several "house calls" to his QTH to help him with computer problems and setup of MixW.

Equipment
Rigs: 2 Icom 718s and one Yaesu FT-897D in the shack for HF.
1 Alinco DR-635 for 2M/70CM in the shack.

Mobile: Yaesu FT-857D. Mobile antenna is the Little Tarheel II screwdriver mounted on the end gate of my Dodge Town & Country van.
