My Ham Radio Interests
Building Antennas, Conventions Hamfests Flea Markets Or Swap Meets, DXing, Emergency Communications/ARES/RACES, Family Communications, Making New Friends, Nets, Ragchewing/Casual Operating, Recruiting New Hams, Talking With Friends, Teaching New Hams, Vintage Equipment As a kid I was interested in building crystal radio sets and taking apart radios purchased at rummage sales. Later I got involved the the "cb craze" of the '70's. Then I was introduced to 2m by a cb store owner in Merced CA, who got me in touch with Chuck Bowers KJ6DO who was my neighbor and subsequently my Elmer, the rest is history(Restoring Operating)

Equipment
My primary rig here is a Yaesu Ft-1000MP Mark V 200 watt version that has had the "works" from Byron Cambell of Electronic Equipment Servicing

Ameritron AL-572 amplifier 1300 watts SSB PEP with a new set of 572B's and I beefed up the Dynamic Bias Circuit with a NTE 331 transistor

Palstar AT2K 2000 watt antenna tuner

Palstar DL2K 2000 watt dummy Load with RF power meter

Heil PR 781 microphone

Heathkit HW 101 station

Kenwood TM-741 Tri-Bander with 2 meters, 440 and 220

Uniden Bearcat scanner

Astron Power Supplies

Yaesu VX-8R Heavy Duty Quad Band HT 2/220/440/6

GAP Titan vertical mounted on a 20 foot pole just above the roof line

G5RV in an inverted V at 45 feet
